Creating a Great Nursery For Your Baby

Filed under: Design, General, Interior — Tags: , — admin @ 2:35 pm

If you have a baby on the way there are so many preparations that need to be made and things that need to be done in order to get ready for the baby’s arrival. You need to throw a baby shower and nurture your own body for the baby’s sake. You need to buy a crib, diapers, bottles, bibs, clothing, baby carrier, formula and more. Before the baby arrives you also have to pick out the right birth announcements to send out to your family, friends and coworkers. There are so many types of announcements to choose from. There are so many things that you need to take care of before the baby comes. But, if you were to focus on just one thing to accomplish before you become a mother then it should be the nursery.

When putting together a great nursery there are several things that you need to consider. One of these things is the paint color for the nursery walls. This is a very important choice to make because it is the first thing you need to do when putting together a nursery. It is much easier to paint a room before you move furniture in so you should paint the room before doing anything else. If you know the gender of your child then paint the room accordingly. If you do not know the gender of your child then you should choose a neutral color like green or light orange. If you already have some furniture for the room then make sure that the paint color you choose complements these items. After you have picked an appropriate color and painted the room you will be ready to pick out furniture.

The next thing that you need to do to ensure that you have a great nursery is to pick out great furniture. Pick out furniture that complements the paint color that you have chosen. If you have a few furniture pieces then make sure that rest of the furniture that you choose complements the furniture that you already have. It you buy wood furniture it is essential for aesthetic purposes to get all the same shade of wood. Some furniture items that you may want to purchase are a crib, a rocking chair, a changing table, and a lamp. If you are on a budget or have any financial restraints then you should just get the staples. If you are not on a budget then buy whatever you see fit. If you do not trust your design abilities then you may want to consult an interior designer. Unless you encounter any issues once you have the furniture then you are set to go.

The only other thing that you may want to do is accessorize. This includes getting throw pillows and blankets. This also includes purchasing curtains or another type of window treatments and any type of floor covering. If you get these items and keep these tips in mind then you will put together a great nursery.

Practical Tips For Effective and Easy Cleaning of Shower Curtains

Nobody wants to get that drab feeling while taking a bath or shower. While you are concentrated on cleaning up, you will not feel comfortable enclosed in a dirty and messy shower curtain. Despite our attention to detail, a shower curtain will get dirty because of the damp conditions inside the bathroom and the continued accumulation of soap scum. There is a need to regularly clean them and it should be part of the cleaning routine inside the bathroom.

Keep the following general guidelines in washing your curtains used in your bathroom. Most shower curtains can be cleaned and washed in your ordinary clothes washer. Add 1 cup of bleach solution when you wash them. Add a regular number of white towels to go along with the curtains plus the prescribed amount of laundry detergent. Do not run the washing machine on hot water as this can damage them.

Don’t place the curtains in the dryer after washing. Just hang it to dry on the shower rod in the bathroom. You can also use baking soda as alternative to the bleaching solution when you are washing your material. Do not forget to read washing instructions and warnings before proceeding to wash them.

Cleaning the curtains in the bathroom is not an easy task. Everyone will find the routine a bit tedious as we have to work our way by removing the rings from the fabric and liners before washing. You may choose to use a cleaner spray specific for shower curtains. However, you will still have to pull it down after a few weeks for washing to maintain a clean and fresh feeling inside the bathroom.

Here are several practical tips in cleaning and maintaining your curtains the easy way.

If your curtain is made of plastic or vinyl liner, you can wash them in a regular washing machine by adding one cup each of bleach and vinegar. Before washing them, check for any indicated chemicals which can damage and harm the material. Do not use hot water. Cold water should be used in washing the curtains.

If your curtain is made of fabric liner, a cup of baking soda is more appropriate alternative to bleach and vinegar. You can remove any accumulated mildew and mold by washing them in soapy water added with just a small amount of bleach. Make sure that you are using a bleach type which is color safe. To avoid the fast accumulation of mold, use a water-salt combination in washing the curtains used in the bathroom. Make sure that you use just enough amount of salt to prevent the formation of crystal when you drip dry the curtains. Every time you pull down the curtains for a thorough washing, don’t forget to clean the rings as well.

You can also clean the liners in the same manner as that of the shower curtains. Follow the instructions used for specific materials of curtain liner and wash them using the washing guidelines we apply for curtains. You can also maintain the liners in between our regular washing by using the appropriate spray cleaner and rinsing it on a regular basis. This will prevent the formation of molds on the liner.

My Home Remodel Project

When I bought my first house in the Midwest, I was thrilled to have an old house and the ability to fix it up to make it the way I wanted it to be. After I bought the house, I looked online to find a western suburbs handyman who could help me with the huge remodeling project I was about to take on. Finally, I found someone who had an entire page dedicated to a western suburbs bathroom he had helped someone complete recently and I knew he was the guy for the job. So, I hired him and we quickly made an appointment for him to take look at the house and see how he could help.

Frank, the handyman, came over a few days after I bought the house and he said he would love to help with the job. I told him I wanted to remodel the kitchen by replacing the sink, cabinets, the floors, and the countertops. I also told him I wanted to paint the walls in the living room. Finally, I explained that I also needed help replacing some fixtures, replacing the shower, and repainting the bathroom. Frank said that it would probably take about three weeks for the project to be complete. So, after the meeting I got to work looking for everything I needed for my project.

After the meeting, I went to a home improvement store to buy everything I would need for the project. I bought different paint colors, new light fixtures, new countertops, new wood floors, cabinets, and I arranged to have the floors, cabinets, and a new shower delivered the following week.

For the first week, Frank and I worked on the kitchen because that was the room that needed the most work. We started by painting first, then we took off all of the old countertops. Next, we put the cabinets in place and then installed the countertops. The end of the kitchen project came when we replaced the entire floor with new wood flooring.

The second week we worked on the living room. Since the room was so large, it took two days to complete the paint job. Frank also helped me put in a few new fixtures and he made small improvements to the living room as we found any minor issues while painting the room.

The third week was the final week of the project and we worked on the bathroom. Frank installed the new shower without my help, then he helped me replace the sink with the new one. He also helped me paint the bathroom after everything else had been installed.

I really enjoyed working with Frank, the handyman, because he always went above and beyond by helping me replace and fix anything that needed fixing along the way. During my remodeling project, Frank and I became great friends and remain so to this day. I am so happy I decided to remodel my new home because I able to make a new friend and create the home of my dreams in just three weeks.

Hiring a Handyman Can Have Several Positive Effects

Filed under: Design, Exterior, General, Interior, Kitchen — Tags: — admin @ 2:24 pm

Everything you can buy has its up sides and its downsides. Whether that’s hiring someone to do a job for you, or purchasing a new car, nothing is perfect. Things can go wrong in homes, whether it is a tree falling on your roof or your bathroom getting flooded and having to be remodeled. For all of these problems that may occur, a Fox Valley handyman would do the job perfectly. Sometimes the job needs more specialty work, such as renovating a bathroom, in which case Fox Valley bathroom remodeling can do the job better than your average Joe.

It is very important to have someone around who can fix a sink, re-wallpaper a room or just pick up some sticks around the home. If you are a single parent, hiring someone to do these jobs would be very wise and a good investment of your time. Since you may not always be home when you need to, you can give this person a call in case something in your household goes awry. This will prevent further damage because the job will get fixed before any more damage can occur. Even if you have someone that is already at the house frequently who could do these jobs, they may not be the most proficient. Some people aren’t gifted with skills to use a hammer or any other tool that is necessary to handle the job. If you are always gone all the time and the person who is occupying your home does not possess the skills to do these jobs, hiring someone to do them for you is a wise investment.

When you purchase a home, things may seem perfect to you. Especially if you want things to work out with the home, you may find yourself trying to find the good in all things that you see in the house. Although this is completely natural, it may hinder your decision so that you may not make the best choice when it comes to choosing the right home. If you accidentally make this mistake, there are ways that you can alter your home or any specific room so that in case you don’t absolutely love one part of your home, you don’t have to live with it. A place in your home that often needs change is the lavatory because it is a place that people visit every day they live in the house.

The next time you encounter a problem in your home, don’t worry too much about it, there are many ways to fix it so you aren’t stuck with the problem the rest of the time you live there. Hiring someone to do the job for you can have many benefits whether it is a better looking home or someone who can fix whatever small job needs to be done. Before you go out trying to find a new home, think about your options before you make any big changes and spend money that doesn’t need to be spent.
